Bubo vs. HeyLuna: Which AI Assistant Actually Fits Your Business?

A business owner taking a call at his laptop

Bubo and HeyLuna are both AI assistants built for local businesses, and both pair phone answering with WhatsApp follow-up. The clearest difference is scope: HeyLuna bundles phone, website chat and automated review responses into one product whose plans scale the number of languages with the price, while Bubo works on the phone-and-booking flow specifically — payment collection included — at the same language depth on every plan.

Everything below about HeyLuna comes from HeyLuna's own website, checked in August 2026. HeyLuna was not asked to review this comparison, and vendor pages change — check theirs directly before deciding.

What HeyLuna does

HeyLuna is a Dutch company based in Utrecht, offering an AI assistant named "Luna" across three connected products: an AI phone assistant, an AI website chatbot, and an AI reviews manager that replies automatically to new Google reviews. According to HeyLuna's own site, Luna answers calls, books appointments, connects to tools including Google, WhatsApp and Dutch platforms such as OnlineAfspraken.nl and Dentasoft, and hands off to a person when it reaches the edge of what it can do. HeyLuna states that setup is done entirely by its own team — the business configures nothing technical — and that most businesses are live within three working days.

HeyLuna names real customers across a spread of industries — a power-station retailer, a kebab restaurant, an office-space provider, a fine-dining restaurant, a security company and a private spa among them — and states that over 50 Dutch businesses currently use Luna.

Where Bubo and HeyLuna genuinely differ

Scope: three products or one flow. HeyLuna's offering bundles phone, website chat and automated review responses under one assistant. Bubo works on the call and what surrounds it — booking, WhatsApp confirmation, no-show reminders, payment collection — with no chatbot or review-management product attached. A business that wants its Google reviews answered automatically alongside its phone gets that from HeyLuna as a stated, priced feature. We do not offer an equivalent, and that is a genuine reason to choose them.

Languages tied to the price tier, or not. HeyLuna's own pricing table states the language count per plan: 2 on Starter (€108 a month), 5 on Professional (€252 a month), and 10+ only on the custom-priced Compleet tier. Bubo answers in 70+ languages with no fixed shortlist — the caller's language is detected rather than picked from a preset — and does not gate that by plan. A business on HeyLuna's entry tier is specifically limited to two languages, which is worth weighing carefully if your callers are linguistically mixed and your budget is not.

Payment collection. The HeyLuna pages reviewed here describe appointment booking, FAQ handling and WhatsApp or SMS follow-up, but do not describe an equivalent to Bubo's in-call payment link or deposit collection as a stated feature.

Setup fee. HeyLuna states a one-time setup cost of €499 on every tier, on top of the monthly fee. Ours is on the pricing page — worth reading on both sides, since a setup fee changes the true first-month cost more than the monthly figure suggests.

What happens after the booking exists. Availability is locked the instant Bubo checks it, so two callers cannot take the same slot; an order is priced server-side and waits for your approval; a booking waiting on you times out rather than holding a table for nobody; every change is kept with the old value beside the new one. HeyLuna's pages describe the conversation and the channels, and say less about this side.

Vertical framing. HeyLuna's marketing and customer examples are general small-business-facing rather than organised around named verticals — the case studies span retail, hospitality, security and wellness without a dedicated page for each. Bubo is built around six named verticals with configuration for each.

Pricing

HeyLuna's own pricing page lists three tiers: Starter at €108 a month (250 minutes, 50 WhatsApp messages, 2 languages), Professional at €252 a month (2,000 minutes, 500 WhatsApp or SMS messages, 5 languages, plus a website chatbot and calendar integrations), and a custom-priced Compleet tier (all channels including review management, 10+ languages, a dedicated account manager). Annual billing is offered at a 15% discount, and every tier carries the same €499 one-time setup fee. Our own plans are on the pricing page.

Because HeyLuna's tiers bundle different channels — phone only on Starter, phone plus chatbot on Professional, everything on Compleet — a fair comparison means matching the bundle you actually need against ours, rather than the lowest headline price on each side. The real cost of a missed call is the other half of that sum.

Which one actually fits your business

HeyLuna is a strong fit for a business that wants phone, website chat and automated review management from one provider under one dashboard, and is comfortable with language coverage rising as it moves up the tiers. Bubo is the better fit for a business — in any of its six verticals — that wants payment or deposit collection inside the phone-booking flow specifically, wants the same language depth whichever plan it is on, or has no use for a bundled chatbot and review manager beside its phone assistant.

As with any vendor comparison, testing both against your own actual calls beats comparing pricing tables. How to choose an AI phone answering service sets out what to test for, and a demo is built around your own business.

Frequently asked questions

Is HeyLuna GDPR compliant?

HeyLuna's site has a privacy policy page, which is where GDPR commitments are normally set out. We did not verify its contents in depth for this comparison beyond confirming the page exists — read HeyLuna's privacy policy directly for the specifics that matter to your business.

Can I switch from HeyLuna to Bubo?

In most cases yes — both typically work through call forwarding rather than a change of number, and HeyLuna states its plans are cancellable monthly. Check any setup-fee or contract terms with HeyLuna before switching.

Does HeyLuna take payments during a call?

The HeyLuna pages reviewed for this comparison describe booking, FAQ handling and WhatsApp or SMS follow-up, but do not describe in-call payment or deposit collection as a stated feature. Confirm directly with HeyLuna if this matters to you.

How fast is HeyLuna to set up?

HeyLuna states that most businesses are live within three working days, with its own team handling the whole setup — the business is not expected to configure anything technical.

Which one is cheaper?

It depends entirely on which features you need. HeyLuna's Starter tier is €108 a month plus the €499 setup fee, phone-only and limited to two languages; matching a payment-capable, full-language setup may mean comparing against Professional or Compleet instead. Get a current quote from both against the features you actually use.

Is this comparison biased, since it's published by phone-assistant.ai?

Reasonably assume some bias in any vendor-published comparison — which is why this piece states plainly that HeyLuna's bundled review management and three-day setup are genuine strengths we do not currently match, rather than claiming Bubo is simply better across the board.
